Situation
Limax's rapidly growing network of over 50 mushroom growers across Europe faced significant operational challenges. Manual processes, disconnected data silos, and a lack of real-time visibility made it difficult to manage the complex supply chain, control quality, and plan logistics effectively. The existing systems were fragmented and could not scale to meet the increasing demand for excellence and automation.
Task
The goal was to design and build a unified, modular ERP platform named Flowcontrol. This system needed to centralize all business logic, provide real-time data synchronization, and automate key processes. Core requirements included modules for article management, transport planning, maintenance scheduling, and asset tracking, all accessible through a secure, user-friendly web interface.
Action
We developed Flowcontrol using a modern, scalable microservices architecture. The backend was built with Java/Spring Boot and PHP/Laravel, communicating via REST APIs. For the frontend, we chose Vue.js with TypeScript and Pinia for state management, creating a responsive and intuitive user experience with TailwindCSS. Key infrastructure components like Kafka were implemented for asynchronous data streaming, Kubernetes for container orchestration, and Keycloak for robust, fine-grained access control with OAuth2 and SSO. The entire development process followed Agile methodologies with a strong focus on TDD and clean code (SOLID principles).
Result
Flowcontrol has become the digital backbone of Limax, providing a single source of truth for the entire supply chain. The system delivers real-time visibility into inventory, logistics, and planning, dramatically reducing manual errors and improving operational efficiency. Its modular, multi-tenant design allows for easy scalability and customization for different growers. By automating critical workflows and ensuring data integrity, Flowcontrol empowers Limax to maintain its high standards of quality and control while sustainably scaling its operations across Europe.
